Kenya Barris

About the Author

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kenya Barris is married with six children and resides in Encino, California. He is the creator of the series Black-ish (which is loosely based on his own life) and Grown-ish. Barris has worked on several television shows, including the CW’s The Game and Girlfriends and was a co-creator of America’s Next Top Model. On the film side he is most recently credited as co-writer on the female friendship comedy, Girls Trip, and upcoming remake of Stir Crazy.
